“How do you promote personal well being & health in your department, and why do you think it’s important that we strive for wellness?"

Technology has come so far in such a short period of time that we have grown accustomed to constantly being connected.

Watching a movie, scrolling through Instagram, updating your Facebook status, downloading music, etc. There’s an endless list of things we feel obligated to be doing because, well, everyone else is doing it, right?

I believe ‘switching off’ or ‘powering-down’ is central to our physical and mental well-being. Take a few hours a night where you don’t look at your phone; spend 15 minutes a day just being with yourself, being in the moment; try sleeping with your phone in another room, you’ll be surprised how much more rested you will feel in the morning.

Technology is an amazing tool, and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what is possible, but we cannot forget the importance of spending time with ourselves, with friends, with loved ones, away from it all.
